We know that Valentine's Day can be stressful with the class parties, candy boxes, and sugar rushes. However, make sure that you don't miss the opportunity to make sure that each of your students feels loved. Check out a few simple ideas on how to incorporate a little extra love in your classroom this year.
Here are some ideas from S’more Time for Teaching for Valentine’s Day:
Incorporate a Valentine’s Day themed activity - Take a look at your plans for February 14th. Brainstorm ways that you could tweak the lessons and activities that you have already created to have a Valentine’s Day theme. Think: pink, red, hearts, & LOVE! Or, check out some of the Valentine’s Day resources other teachers have already made - like this Valentine’s Day Science Activity.
Have your students write valentines - Encourage your students to share the love by writing valentines to their classmates or family. Simply print a Valentine’s Writing Activity template and you are ready to go! BONUS - Your students’ parents will MELT when they get a valentine from their little one.
Send your kiddos home with something SWEET - When your classroom is chaos and your kiddos are delivering valentines to their friends’ boxes, make sure to drop a little something SWEET from their favorite teacher. Your kids will go home feeling just how loved they are! Simply print a Valentine’s Day gift tag (like this), sign your name, and attach your favorite candy. Nerd Alert - The science teacher in me cannot get over these adorable science themed valentines.
Tell your students how much you LOVE them - Don’t miss the opportunity this Valentine’s Day to let your students know how much you love and CARE for them. Write an individualized note on the back of each valentine, or simply greet your class at the door with an extra bright smile!
Give your classroom (or door) some LOVE - Take the time to decorate your classroom for Valentine’s Day. Cover your classroom door with HEARTS or put pink and red paper table cloths over the desks for the class party. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but it will surely enhance your students’ experience!
